7th National Women’s Congress (1992-1997)

Attending the Congress were 1,145 delegates (including 760 exemplary delegates), representing over 10 million members and 33 million women nationwide. The Congress was honored to welcome: Comrade Do Muoi - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; Comrade Vo Chi Cong - Chairman of the State Council; Comrade Le Quang Dao - Chairman of the National Assembly; and Comrade Vu Oanh, Politburo Member. The Congress was honored to receive a banner with the inscription "Solidarity, Innovation, Loyalty, Responsibility" awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the women's movement nationwide.

The Congress decided to continue implementing two campaigns: “Women help each other with household economy” and “Raising children well to reduce child’s malnutrition and school dropouts”. Five key programs were identified: Enhancing knowledge and capacity for women; Supporting activities to create jobs and increase income for women; Providing healthcare for women and children, promoting family planning and education; Reforming organizational structures and staff, mobilizing the public, and building the Union's fund; Conducting research and mobilizing the public to participate in the development, monitoring and supervising new policies, laws and mechanisms directly related to women’s rights. The Congress also discussed some family issues.

The Congress elected the Seventh Central Committee consisting of 101 members; 96 members were elected at the Congress; 11 members of the Presidium. Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh was elected as Honorary President. Comrade Truong My Hoa was elected as President; Comrade Vo Thi Thang, Vuong Thi Hanh, and Nguyen Thi Phuong Minh were elected as Vice Presidents.
