5th National Women’s Congress (1982-1987)
Attending the Congress were 1.051 delegates, including 800 official delegates, along with 9 international women’s delegations. The congress was honored to welcome Chairman of the Council of Ministers Pham Van Dong.
The Congress set out the tasks for the 1982 - 1987 term, namely:
- Raising socialist awareness, and collective mastery capacity for women, building new socialist women;
- Encouraging women to actively participate in building socialism and protecting the Fatherland, successfully implementing the national five-year plan 1981-1985 period;
- Educating, mobilizing, organizing and guiding women to promote their role as mothers, in contribution to building families, raising well children;
- Promoting women's collective mastery in participating in state and society management;
- Enhancing solidarity with women in the world in the struggle for peace, national independence, democracy and socialism;
- Improving the methods and organizational activities, urgently training and fostering cadres’ capacity.
The Congress elected the 5th Central Committee consisting of 109 members, the Central Committee’s Secretariat with 15 members. Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh was elected as President; comrades Nguyen Thi Nhu, Nguyen Thi Binh, Nguyen Thi Thanh, Ngo Ba Thanh were elected as Vice Presidents.
During the term, the 5th Central Committee elected comrades Nguyen Thi Than and Truong My Hoa as Vice Presidents.
PRESIDENTS AND VICE PRESIDENTS OF THE VIETNAM WOMEN'S UNION FOR THE 1982-1987 TERM
