Receiving the delegation of the Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD) Party of Tunisia

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information o­n women in the two countries, experiences in promoting gender equality and improving the role and position of the women in the two countries in the national socio-economic development, as well as facilitating women in politic participation.

The Union of National Females of Tunisia (UNFT), the organization representing Tunisian women, has similarities with VWU in terms of characteristics and organizational structure. UNFT in Tunisia, which has the same role as VWU in Vietnam, is a mass organization that has great contributions to the country’s development.

With the vision of appreciating and promoting the role of women, RCD has set the target of ensuring that Tunisian women fill at least 30% of the positions in the Central Party’s Executive Committee and in governmental and local organs. For the time being, the proportion of Female Deputies in the Tunisian Parliament is 21% and in the Upper House 20%. There are two women in the Central Party’s Secretariat.

On behalf of RCD, Mme. Hager Chérif Chebil highly appreciated and expressed her thanks for the warm reception from the Central VWU and extended her invitation to the leaders of VWU to visit Tunisia in the accordant time, which would be an opportunity for cooperation and experience exchange for the women in the two countries. Mme. Hager Chérif Chebil also hoped for more opportunities in the future for cooperation and striving for the target of the advancement of women.
