A report was presented that was about various activities of community communication on the prevention of and combating against trafficking in women and children in the past. It informed that the trafficking in women and children has become a problem globally and is a dangerous criminal case with sophisticated, cunning tricks, seriously injuring women and children’s honour, human dignity, life and health. Although prevention work to date has achieved some positive results, a lot of work is still needed to be done. The project of community communication on prevention of and combating against trafficking in women and children, period 2004-2010 (or The 1st project- approved by the Government, presided over by the Central VWU) focuses on community communication and education laws and policies, raising public awareness about the prevention of and combating against trafficking in women and children.
On 24th, May 2006 Mme Ha Thi Khiet, President of VWU on behalf of the Presidium of VWU, signed a decision to establish a Project Steering Committee.
The Drafted Regulation of Operation of the Project Steering Committee in the period 2005-2010 was presented. In the workshop, members of the Project Steering Committee also discussed on measures of implementing the 1st Project, possibility of inter- sectors coordinating activities to prevent and combat against trafficking in women and children, integrating this project with other projects of the National Program of Actions on Prevention and Combating against Trafficking in Women and Children in the period 2005-2010 and finalizing the Project Steering Committee’s Operation Regulation.
