In recent years, the VWU has mainstreamed disaster risk reduction into various programs, including those focused on women’s entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and environmental protection. One notable initiative is the "Patron-parents" program, which began by supporting children orphaned by COVID-19 and has since expanded to include children who have lost parents due to natural disasters or other exceptional circumstances.

The ASEAN delegation expressed appreciation for the VWU’s comprehensive, practical, and sustainable approach - particularly focus on gender mainstreaming in disaster management strategy and support for vulnerable groups.
