Inspiring ethnic minority young women on gender equality and leadership spirit

On December 3, 2024 in Dien Bien province, over 150 young people and students gathered to listen, discuss successful stories, and share initiatives promoting gender equality and women's leadership, particularly for ethnic minority women.

The 2024 Women’s Leadership Talkshow has organized by the UN Women in Dien Bien Phu City on December 3 with the theme "Path to success: Stories of inspiration". The program aimed at encouraging women, especially girls and female students in Dien Bien and the northern mountainous regions, to dream big, overcome gender-based barriers and stereotypes to unlock their full potential.

This event was to response to the 2024 Action Month on Gender Equality and Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response, towards the 30 years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+30).

Within the framework of the Talkshow, Ms. Caroline Nyamayemombe, UN Women Representative in Vietnam; Ms. Vu Dao Mi, Vice President of Dien Bien Women's Union; Ms. H'Hen Nie, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017; outstanding young women leaders from ethnic minority communities; development organizations... have shared their successful stories and leadership journeys in different fields such as business, science, forestry, education and community.

* Towards the 30 years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, UN Women launched the #GenTalk campaign, a youth-driven initiative fostering intergenerational dialogue and action for gender equality. Top 10 innovators of the #GenTalk campaign also attended the 2024 Women’s Leadership Talkshow, showcasing their creative and breakingthrough ideas for gender equality goals. This platform provides an opportunity for young women to share their initiatives and inspire young people in Dien Bien and surrounding areas to become positive change-makers in the future.
