Seminar to Contribute to the Draft Law on Prevention and Combating against Domestic Violence

 With support of Finland Embassy, since 2005, VWU has implemented project “Enhancing Gender Equality and Preventing and Combating against Gender Based Domestics violence” in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri Province. In the second phase, in 19^th August 2006, the Presidium of VWU hosted a Seminar to collect ideas in contribution to the Draft Law o­n prevention and combating against Domestic Violence. The Seminar was attended by leaders of the Women’s Union from different provinces, districts, communes and the representativesof the people living in the project sites,

Based o­n experiences of the two previous years, and being grouped into small groups, participants discussed in depth and contributed ideas o­n the Law’s outlines and targets of adjustment; Definition of violence actions, measures of education in the community, the length of duration of abundance from the victims to be imposed by the President of the People’s Committee or the Chief of Commune’s Police to the violence offenders, protection of victims, the necessity and feasibility of punishment and urgent divorces solution in cases of severe domestic violence./.
