Vietnam Women’s Union study tour to CARD organization, Philippines

During the study tour, the delegation visited the central office of CARD, CARD Bank branches, the offices of Mutual Benefit Association and Business Development Services. The delegation was so excited to learn about the formation and development of new products and services provided by CARD for members. The trip was a very good opportunity for the delegation to better understand about micro financial operation of CARD MRI so that they can better apply the lessons and experiences into the current operation of VWU and TYM Fund as well.

Targeting 1 million members by 2009 -2010, CARD MRI has constantly expanded its operation sites and diversified its products to better serve the poor women in the Philippines.

At the end of the visit, members of the delegation highly praised the success of CARD in organizational development and especially the benefits that the network has brought to the poor people in the Philippines. The delegation gained more confidence in the appropriate direction of VWU to improve the performance of its micro finance program including TYM Fund to advance toward the establishment of a women’s bank as stated in the 10^th National Women’s Congress.
