Save the Children UK helps Vietnam fight child trafficking

25/05/2006
Save the Children UK opened Friday a two-day seminar on child protection and child trafficking prevention in Vietnam which also introduced a strategy for the 2005-2010 period

In April 2006, Save the Children UK launched a three-year project in the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Quang Ninh and the southern provinces of Dong Thap and Ca Mau with the aim of setting up networks to protect children in border areas.

The project focuses on the dissemination of information on child protection and child trafficking and repatriation of children who've been trafficked.

It pays particular attention to under-15 children, the disadvantaged, ethnic minority children and those who do not attend school.

The strategy introduced at the seminar, which has been planned with a vision through 2020, called on the participants to help establish a project steering committee and a network of volunteers to implement the project./.
