Little capital assistance in 3 years to promote people’s living standard

04/06/2007
Yen Lac is a pure rural district in Vinh Phuc province. There are 23,980 women members in 304 groups.

In the whole district, there are 4,400 poor households, of which 986 are led by women. In 3 years (from 2004 to April 2007), 5,700 turns of women received loans with an average of 5 million VND per household from the District’s Social Policy Bank. The entrusted loans through the District WU are over 17.7 billion VND. Thanks to those sentimental attached capitals, 500 women-led households were able to escape from poverty and every year, about 180 households were free from poverty.

By both lending loans and guiding ways to do business to the poor households, District WU cooperated with District Social Policy Bank to annually open training courses in entrusted loans management skills for heads and members of credit groups, thus reducing bad and overdue debt.

Thanks to good management of loans and close monitoring of the grassroots, Yen Lac WU has achieved the targets of entrusted loans for poor households and been commended and rewarded by the Provincial WU and District Social Policy Bank.
