Implementing the movement to build friendly schools and active students

On August 3rd, in Hanoi, several ministries and agencies signed a cooperation plan to carry out the movement to build friendly schools and active students in the 2009-2010 school year.

 

Ministries and agencies included the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and tourism, the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Vietnam Study Promotion Society

The plan aims to promote the collective strength of ministries and agencies in the whole political system and the society for the cause of education and training for the future of each family and the general development of the nation.

The movement includes five target areas.

First is to ensure safe, green, clean and beautiful schools; plan trees at appropriate times to suit the conditions of each locality; encourage children to go to school; and do not let students drop out of schools because of inadequate supplies or lacks of books.

Second is to renew teaching methods; use teaching equipment and apply information technology in teaching.

Third is to teach living skills to students based o­n programmes of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Fourth is to bring folk games, folklore singing and other different folk cultural activities into schools.

Last is to preserve and promote values of historical, cultural and revolutionary relics; organize the cultural heritage day, and welcome the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.
