The Hitachi Young Leaders Initiatives forum (HYLI) Wednesday announced the name of the four Vietnamese who will represent Vietnamese students at the forum.

The 8th HYLI will take place from January 22-23, 2007 in Hanoi. However, this will be the first time Vietnam has participated in this event.

The Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative is a community relations programme developed and launched by Hitachi in Asia in 1996. The programme aims to identify and groom potential Asian leaders, by bringing them together to discuss regional issues and establish contacts with prominent regional leaders from the private, public and academic sectors.

The Initiative offers student participants an exceptional platform to broaden their outlook on regional and global issues while promoting a sense of Asian values and cross-cultural understanding. The nations that have taken part in previous forums are Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The 8th HYLI will discuss economic and social issues of common concern in Asia. The major topic of the forum will be “Strength of Asia: the great role and common voice of Asia as a responsible partner”.

Twenty-eight participating students and speakers will discuss two themes: economics and the environment.

Four Vietnamese students have passed several rounds of selection to represent future young leaders of Vietnam at the forum. They are Tran Thi Le Dung from the HCM City University of Social Science and Humanities, Pham Thu Hang and Hoang Hanh Dung from the Hanoi Foreign Trade University and Ha Hong Hanh from the Hanoi University of Technology./.
