Continuing to implement "Patron-parents" Program will help achieve dual goal of comprehensive care for orphans
After 2 years of implementation, the Program has been responded to by 100% of the WUs in provinces and cities and subordinate units. The program has also received high appreciation of the Party and State leaders, attracted attention and support of all sectors, branches, organizations and individuals accompanying the VWU.
Many localities have met target of 100% of local orphans due to Covid-19 epidemic having patron - mother. Many provincial WUs have made commitments to sponsor not only orphans due to the epidemic but also those due to other reasons. A large number of patron-mothers have pledged to sponsor children until their graduation. Especially, through VWU’s connection, 34 Vietnamese women in the Europe have committed to support 56 orphans in difficult circumstances in all over the country.
Interventions at conference showed that ministries and localities have their own creative and best ways in implementing Program with common goal to spreading a humanity activity, bringing human warmth to orphans and encouraging them to move forward in life.

Major General Ngo Hoai Thu, Head of WU Chapter of the Ministry of Public Security said that WUs at all levels under the Ministry have contributed and mobilized nearly approximately 960,000 USD, sponsored 1,886 orphans due to different reasons, many of them are suffering from serious illnesses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Giang district, Hung Yen province, shared that the district PC gave direction to district WU to fully review and identify children meeting criteria in the area and concentrated resources on implementing the Program to ensure physical and spiritual care for children, helping them get warmth from second parents.
Mr. Dang Hoa Nam, Director General of the Department of Children, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, is very enthusiastic about Program, and wondering how to have policies to implement the suitable program, ensuring a fair level of support between children in care center and children in the community. He affirmed that the Department is willing to coordinate with the VWU to organize trainings for patron-parents.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, General Director of Lead Viet Company, the adoptive father of 13 orphans, shared that as a father of 3 young children, when learning about the Program, he realized that this is a practical and humanity activity. Therefore, he will spend a part of his income to support orphans who lack necessary nurturing and caring for a bright future.
Concluding the conference, Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh - Alternate Member of the CPV, VWU Vice - President highly appreciated wholehearted participation in the "Patron-parents" Program, it, although being implemented in a short time, but spreads widely with high efficiency. She affirmed that the continuation of program will reach dual goal in comprehensive care for children in terms of learning, health, psychology, helping them have faith, aspirations and positive energy to make efforts.
Up to now, the “Patron-parents" Program has mobilized nearly 150 billion VND (approximately 6,250,000 USD), supported 27,670 orphans in difficult circumstances, including more than 3,000 orphans due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
