APEC 2006: 50 students attend “Voice of the future”

21/11/2006
The forum for APEC students called “Voice of the future” began on November 13. Around 50 students from APEC economies met for the first time at Hanoi University.

The forum is an activity on the sideline of the APEC 2006 Summit, jointly organised by the Virtual Trade Mission (VTM), the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the International Studies Faculty of Hanoi University.

The “Voice of the future” forum will take place until November 18, offering an opportunity for APEC students to meet and interview APEC leaders.

Twenty-one Vietnamese students are participating in this programme. They are divided into small groups to help students from other APEC economies understand about the economy and culture of Vietnam

“Chinese students are curious about the study timetable of Vietnamese students. American friends want to learn about the life of Vietnamese people. Those from New Zealand are eager to learn about Vietnamese culture,” said Lan Huong, a student from the Hanoi University of Technology.

Coming to Vietnam are also university lecturers so students can learn useful knowledge from them. Particularly, they are trained how to report briefly about the operations of this forum as well as how to interview chiefs of state. Each group will post their articles on the website of WTM.

The first “Voice of the future” forum was organised in 1998 in Malaysia.
