Accompanying to promote gender equality and empower women

The Cooperation Agreement for the period 2022 - 2027 was signed in 2022 in continuation of the implementation of the "Nestlé accompanying with women" program coordinated by both sides, with many positive results in phase 1 (2020-2022). This aims to make efforts to promote gender equality, empower women, ensure their safety through healthcare and nutrition for women and children; support women to develop comprehensively in the era of digital transformation, business startup, increase income, contributing to improving their quality of life.

Results of the program implementation

2023 is the first year of implementing the 5-year strategic agreement between the two sides, but the "Nestlé accompanying with women" program has contributed to implementing the emulation movement "Building the Vietnamese women of the new era" and the campaign "Building the family of 5 Without-s and 3 Clean-s" launched by VWU.

Improving knowledge and skills for members and women

With many diverse activities and initiatives, the program has attracted and helped thousands of women, especially rural women, improve their knowledge and skills, access information about nutrition, health, increase income, enhance the ability of information technology application in life, thus create sustainable livelihoods.

Up to now, this program has been implemented in 21 provinces with 790 communes across the country. The program also piloted the support model "Rural women actively doing business, confidently owning" in 2023.

At the conference, 19 groups and individuals were honored for most effectively implementing the “Nestlé accompanying women” program out of a total of 100 groups and individuals with outstanding achievements over a year.

In addition, Nestlé always accompanies VWU in humanitarian and charitable activities to support women and children in difficult circumstances and families of social policies with a total budget of 1,450 million VND in 2023.

Continuing to accompany with women’s development

Managing Director of Nestlé Vietnam Binu Jacob confirmed: "Promoting gender equality and empowering women is one of the global commitments and top priorities of the Nestlé Group. Therefore, we have coordinated with VWU to implement long-term strategic cooperation program "Nestlé accompanying with women”. Through the program, thousands of women, especially women in rural areas, have gradually become confident, taken control of their lives, and contributed to the household and local economic development. In the coming years, we will continue the strategic cooperation program with VWU with core goals and expansion activities."

Speaking at the Conference, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the VWU Ton Ngoc Hanh recognized program’s achievements and expressed her belief that the program will be increasingly developed and bring more good values with new approaches and higher determination. The agreement’s implementation will make contributions to empowering women, building an increasingly professional and effectively organizational VWU.
