A screening of "Brave Miss World" and panel discussion on the theme "Speak Out" hosted by Embassy of Israel in Vietnam and Vietnam Women's Union
The film deals with the story of Miss Israel 1998 Linor Abargil, who was abducted, stabbed and brutally raped in Italy at the age of 18, only six weeks before being crowned Miss World. Later, she is ready to talk about it – and to encourage others to speak out and to stand against sexual violence, by putting an end to their silence. Still, Linor Abargil, the “BRAVE MISS WORLD”, continues her unflinching efforts to keep the nightmares at bay. (For further information, please visit http://www.bravemissworld.com/ and

The panel discussion will include Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar, Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of Vietnam Women's Union, Ms. Phan Thu Hien, gender specialist of UNFPA and an expert from Center for Women and Development (under Vietnam Women's Union). They will share their own experience and expertise, with an aim to address the issue of violence against women, and to encourage the victims, to speak out!
Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar, Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam expresses: “Israel attributes great importance to the issue of violence against women and sexual harassment. Therefore, we have chosen to screen Linor Abargil’s “Brave miss world” film, on the occasion of International Women's Day, in order to encourage men and women that have been through an abuse, to speak out and not to be afraid to do so. We believe that it is necessary to continue raising the awareness of this issue as it continues to prevail in many places around the world"
