250 Invalid People In Phu Tho Province Receive Wheelchairs

On 27 July, 2006, 250 wheelchairs with the total value of over 12.000 USD were granted by the Latter–Day Saint Charities to the disabled in Phu Tho Province.

With the support of the Vietnam Women’s Union, the Latter–Day Saint Charities, which operates worldwide, has mobilized millions of sponsors all over the world to assist the poor and disabled,

 

Phu Tho is o­ne of the six provinces in Vietnam that received wheelchairs donated by the Latter–Day Saint Charities and other NGOs for the disabled. According to incomplete statistical data of Phu Tho Province, among 1.3 million local residents there are 13.000 invalid people (accounting for 1% of the total population) of which many people were affected by Agent Orange.

 

Up to now, the Wheelchair Program of the Latter–Day Saint Charities through the Vietnam Women’s Union has donated nearly 3,000 pieces with the total value of 224,000 USD to the disabled in Quang Tri, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Thai Binh and Phu Tho.
