2006 – breakthrough year of Tuyen Quang tourism
Mr Chau Van Lam, Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang People’s Committee confirmed that 2006 will be the year to mark the breakthrough of Tuyen Quang tourism. During the tourism week, a series of tourism promotion activities are being organised. By the end of the year, many tourism villages, tourist sites, restaurants and accommodations for tourists will have been inaugurated, together with organising new tours.
The province is also assisting businesses in training human resources, reforming administrative procedures and creating more favourable investment mechanisms and policies. So far, registered capital in tourism area has reached nearly VND 20 billion.
Tuyen Quang will focus on building and exploiting cultural and historical tourism products and ecological and convalescent tours, said Hoang Quoc Binh, director of Tuyen Quang Trade and Tourism Department.
There are 465 cultural and historical sites in Tuyen Quang province, of which 386 have been recognised as national revolutionary sites. These sites are centred in Tuyen Quang town and Son Duong, Yen Son and Chiem Hoa district. Some sites that can combine cultural and historical tourism with eco-tourism include Tan Trao-ATK, Kim Binh, My Lam mineral water stream, La stream, Dum mountain, Fairy cave, Trung Ha waterfall and Pac Ban waterfall.
Mr Binh said the province would complete a detailed plan to attract investment in three key areas: Tan Trao cultural and historical site, My Lam mineral stream and Na Hang eco-tourism.
The cultural and tourism week began on August 15 at Tan Trao tourism site’s square in Son Duong district with a typical art performance themed “Back to Tan Trao – Capital of Resistance War” along with a show of 100 traditional ethnic costumes with the participation of 15 beautiful girls who had ualified for the final of Tuyen Quang Beauty Contest.
Earlier, the provincial tourism department and Son Duong district’s authority opened Tan Lap cultural and tourism village for tourists. The village consists of 23

The main goal of the travel week 2006 is to promote tourism, potential of tourism development and attractive tourism products of the province in order to call for investment in tourism sites. The provincial sector is expected to attract 300,000 tourists this year and creating a momentum for the tourism development in the coming years.
