Finland funds efforts to curb women trafficking
The project has helped set up 16 clubs named "Control of women and children trafficking," drawing total 1,500 members, in four villages considered as hotbeds. The clubs have held meetings and training courses for women to raise their awareness against human trafficking crimes and equip them with self-defence knowledge.
The provincial Women's Association has opened consultation offices to help those women who intend to go abroad for employment to ensure their safety.
Pre-project surveys have shown that over 76 women from the four target villages were brought abroad by human trafficking rings, of whom only six managed to return home.
Most of the cheated females were between 18 and 35 years of age. They were low-educated and from poor families.
