Vietnamese women’s medals at world weightlifting contest for disabled
Vietnamese weightlifters won two silver and a bronze medal at the world contest for the disabled in the Republic of Korea, reported the Sports Daily.
The newspaper reported that two silvers had gone to Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan in women’s 48 kilograms and Dang Anh Tuyet in women’s 40 kilograms while Dinh Thi Nga won a bronze medal in women’s 52 kilograms.
The newspaper said that the results of the contest would be served as a basis for the World Weightlifting Federation to select weightlifters for the 2008 Bejing Paralympic Games. Therefore, Vietnamese medallists are expected to have secured their places in the Games.
However, Vu The Phiet, general secretary of the Sports Association for the Disabled, said that other Vietnamese weightlifters still had opportunities from the qualifying round.
