Tenth session of VWU’s Central Executive Committee successfully concluded

After two intensive working days, the 10th session of the VWU’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) tenure XII was successfully concluded on the afternoon of December 25, 2020

At this meeting session, the participants discussed and gave inputs to several draft documents including the VWU operation report for 2020 and orientation for 2021, political report to be submitted to the XIII National Women’s Congress, amended VWU Statutes, VWU resolution on supporting women in international integration towards the year 2030, and personnel planning for the VWU CEC, Presidium and Standing Presidium of the next tenure (2022-2027).

The CEC with high consensus has approved the 2020 annual report and the 2021 key tasks with the theme “Building a strong VWU, actively participating in the Party and Government building”. The key tasks are determined as follows: Continuation of women mobilization and support to realize the “dual goal” of drastically fighting Covid-19 and contributing to socio-economic recovery and development, successful accomplishment of the targets set by the Resolution of the 12th National Women’s Congress; organization of women’s congresses at local levels and preparation for 13th National Women’s Congress; studying of 13th Party Resolution and development of Resolution Action Plan, continued implementation of Party Resolution within the VWU system, active participation in the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’ Councils 2021 – 2026 term at all levels, introduction of female cadres to stand for election; monitoring of the implementation of the Law on Election of National Assembly and People’s Council deputies, continued implementation of the New Rural National Program and joint projects and programs; implementation of VWU Development Strategy through action plans and pilot models.

In her closing remark, VWU President Ms. Ha Thi Nga respectfully praised the efforts and contributions by VWU staff, members and women at large in fighting Covid-19, effectively overcoming natural disasters and successfully achieving national socio-economic development goals.

VWU President proposed local WUs with self-confidence and proactivity set higher goals and targets in the coming time, striving together to build a stronger organization in the next 5 years, making forecast and catching up with the development trend so that VWU activities of will not be marginalized from the mainstream development of the country, and become better responsive to the desires and aspirations of VWU staff, members, and women.

In particular, Ms. Nga suggested provincial and municipal WUs refrain from bureaucracy, more proactively review their activities, programs and projects in recent years to identify advantages and difficulties so as to design more effective activities in the near future.
