Disabled Athletes Earn better-than-expected Results in Regional Games

FESPIC is taking place in Kuala Lumpur until December 1 and Viet Nam’s total medal tally after four competition days was 49 medals.

Better-than-expected results have been achieved. In the last FESPIC in the Republic of Korea in 2002, Viet Nam obtained o­nly three golds, four silvers and six bronzes in all.

As usual, the Vietnamese sportspeople have earned more medals in track and field, with three golds, nine silvers and 13 bronzes so far this time. They also bagged four golds, three silvers and five bronzes in swimming, o­ne silver and o­ne bronze in weightlifting. Besides was o­ne silver in judo.

Viet Nam sent 57 disabled athletes to Kuala Lumpur this time to compete in track and field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, tennis and judo.

Almost 4,000 athletes from 62 countries and territories are taking part in the Games, featuring 19 sports in all. Among them, Chinese athletes are stronger in general.
