Conference on implementation of the Environmental Protection Programme for the year 2005 among Southern Women's Union Provinces

Trainers from the Ho Chi Minh City National University, Central Women's Union and Association of New Technologies have equipped participants with information of direction documents from the Party and State related to the environment, provided with basic knowledge o­n environmental protection as well as its impact to women's health and beauty.

Participants have discussed and agreed several main activities in the works of environmental protection in 2005 such as: strengthening communication, education, mobilization of community's participation in protecting environment under different activities (organization of a launching ceremony for cleaning environment, festival of best mobilizers o­n building a cultural village, health and environmental sanitation; Launching movements "Green, Clean, Beautiful").

At the Conference, representatives from some provinces/cities have shared experiences in setting up models of environmental protection in the community such as: model of improved cooking stoves run by women in Soc Trang province, model of building a cultural village, health and environmental sanitation by women in Khanh Hoa; model o­n sanitation of animal cages in ethnic minority area by women in Binh Phuoc; model of tanks for clean water by women in Vinh Long.

 
All participants from 32 southern provincial/municipal Women's Unions have made commitment to implement effectively the Programme of Environmental Protection for the year 2005 by registering to establish models for environmental protection in community which are appropriate to specific locality: model of collecting garbage, hygienic latrines, clean water, improved cooking stoves, sanitation of animal cages.
