A site for people who love culture
Attending the exhibition were Madam Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Vice President of Vietnam Women’s Union; Mr. Tran Nhat Hoang, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Hung Son, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Today Magazine; Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 and Nong Thuy Hang.
Addressing the audience at the exhibit’s opening, Madam. Nguyen Thi Minh Huong shared: “I especially believe that today’s event will have a strong impact, and continue to create future opportunities and cooperation between the Vietnam Women’s Museum and the people who love culture and heritage”.

At the beginning of 2022, Journalist – Director Nguyen Bong Mai conducted a solo journey across the country. With the aim of learning about the culture of 54 ethnic groups she focused on two key factors: national costumes and melodies. During this trip, she had the chance to see millions of faces, record the colorful life stories of local people across the country, and collect extensive material relating to 55 costumes and 49 tunes from 35 different ethnic groups.
Visitors to the exhibition will be first are the first to see and read about the images of the 55 costumes, each with unique features, of the 35 ethnic groups. Journalist and director Nguyen Bong Mai shared: “It was a solo trip, but I was not alone because so many compatriots across the country loved, cared for and watched over me. I want to tell about those colors and show case the friends and relatives I have been fortunate to meet on this journey.”

Apart from seeing the display of ethnic community costumes, participants were also impressed by personal stories and moving moments from during her trip when she met and talked with ethnic minority women and children across the country. Through this exhibition, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum and Journalist-Director Bong Mai wish to convey a message to the public in general and women in particular, to break down the barriers, social prejudices and personal limitations so that they can each realize their dreams.
