  • VWU's Two Important Upcoming Events

    In celebration of the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8) and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, on February 27, Vietnam Women’s Union will coordinate with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee to organize a National scientific conference on the role of the "Long-Haired Army" and the "Three Responsibilities" movement during the resistance war against the US.

    The Women's Leadership Network of the VWU Central Executive Committee (comprised of the non-full-time EC members) held a meeting on March 1st to review its activities in 2023 and plan for 2024.

    International integration brings both opportunities and challenges for women in various fields. Women need to enhance their knowledge and skills to avoid the risk of falling behind. To support women's proactive and effective integration, the Central Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) directed the development of some models for supporting women's integration in 2021.

    Currently, there are many stereotypes about women in general and female leaders in particular, which greatly affect gender equality, work efficiency, production and life.     Heading towards the 93rd anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Union’s establishment, on the morning of September 22, the VWU organized the workshop "Solutions to increase the proportion of women candidates for the 16th National Assembly and People's Council at all levels for 2026 - 2031 term". The event was co-hosted by the Australian People for Health, Education and Development Abroad (APHEDA).

    On the morning of February 19, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), the Central Vietnam Women's Union held a conference to review the activities of the Network of Women Leaders - Members of the VWU Central Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term. These members are from ministries and central governmental agencies.

    According to the quick information from some provincial Election Committees, the percentage of women elected to the provincial People's Council has reached over 30 percent - the target set out for the women’s representation in the People's Council at all levels.
