Capacity Building for Women’s Union Cadres in Supporting Women’s Economic Development in New Era

The Vietnam Women’s Union organized a regional training workshop in Quang Ninh Province on May 7th - 8th, 2026 with the participation of leaders and officials of the Women’s Union from 15 Northern provinces and cities so as to strengthen the capacity of Women’s Union cadres in supporting women’s economic development, start-up, and access to inclusive finance in the context of digital transformation.

 Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Tran Lan Phuong, VWU’s First Vice President, member of the 16th National Assembly emphasized the need to innovate methods of supporting women’s economic development, while reaffirming the Women’s Union’s role in helping women access financial resources, improve economic management skills, develop sustainable livelihoods, and promote innovative entrepreneurship.

The training focused on new mechanisms and policies related to entrusted lending activities, implementation of the project on supporting women’s start-ups in the 2026–2035 period, capital management skills, inspection and supervision, and risk management. In particular, the workshop devoted significant attention to digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), helping Women’s Union cadres improve policy communication, support women in accessing markets, promote products, and develop business models suited to the digital economy.

Through the workshop, Women’s Union cadres enhanced their professional knowledge and skills while also having opportunities to exchange experiences and share effective models for supporting women’s sustainable economic development, thereby contributing to gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
