Vietnam Women’s Union’s Delegation Visited and Supported Bac Can Flood Victims

In July 31, 2006, the Vietnam Women’s Union delegation led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Oanh visited members, women in Bac Can, which was heavily affected by the BILIS flood.



In the evening of 16th and early morning of July 17, 2006, due to the consequence of the BILIS flood, it rained very heavily causing striking flood in some areas of Bac Can

 

By July 30, 2006, according to inadequate statistics, 8 people died, 1 person lost. It is expected that the loss of houses, vegetables and transportation turns to around 84 billion VND. The Vietnam Women’s Union at all levels has timely collaborated with sectors/mass organizations to help women’s families and members move from flooded areas, seek for victims, encourage and support working day, money and food for victim families…to recover from the flood damage.

 

The Vietnam Women’s Union visited the office of Ba Be Women’s Unionwhich was heavily damaged by the flood. The task force and local leaders also visited, expressed sympathy and presented gifts to some members’ families and women in Ba Be district.

 

On behalf of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Vice President Nguyen Thi Oanh expressed deep sympathy o­n the great loss of wealth and life in Bac Can province, at the same time offered the support of 10 billion VND for members’ families and women in the 3 most damaged districts of Bac Can: Cho Don, Ba Be and Pac Nam./.
