Two top Vietnamese teachers and 100 international counterparts are attending a Microsoft-initiated forum on cutting-edge educational technology in Philadelphia.

Tran Duc Huyen and Bui Tu Ngoc from Le Hong Phong and Kim Lien senior high schools in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, respectively, are among innovative teachers from over 34 countries attending the Microsoft Worldwide Innovative Teachers Forum.

The delegates will conduct exchanges among international friends on experience with applying technology into national education and training.

“We have visited the special Microsoft School of the Future. It is the symbol of a new era for the marriage of technology and education,” Huyen said in an email to Thanh Nien on Saturday.

The $50 million school is supported with human resources and technical assistance from Microsoft's Partners in Learning (PiL) initiative.

The school opened this year with 750 students chosen by lottery, each of whom has been given a laptop or an ultra-mobile PC for educational needs.

The devices allow teachers to distribute personalized assessments during class to assess student comprehension of topics discussed, Huyen added.

The forum will last until November 17.
