Vietnam hosts regional conference on human trafficking
A three-day conference on human trafficking of the Southeast Asian grouping ASEAN opened on July 3rd in Ho Chi Minh City, aimed at implementing a resolution of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Organization.
Delegates from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) discussed trends of human trafficking and measures to cope with it, legal frameworks and heard an introduction to a United Nations protocol and an ASEAN declaration on human trafficking.
Participants pledged to enhance high-level political and legal cooperation in preventing women and children trafficking.
The delegates are set to take part in visits to centers helping victims of human trafficking.
