US television discusses consequences of Agent Orange

A report about the consequences of Agent Orange in Vietnam has been screened by American PBS Television.

The report, directed by American famous editor Fareed Zakaria, noted that although the American war in Vietnam ended 3 decades ago, consequences of Agent Orange continue to affect many Vietnamese people.

During the 1961-1971 period, it added, the US Military sprayed more than 7.5 million litres Agent Orange containing with dioxin substance in Vietnam, causing serious diseases for many after the war.

The report was screened before the US Court of Appeals opens o­n oral argument of a lawsuit filed by Vietnamese Agent Orange victims o­n June 18.


According to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA), around 4.8 million Vietnamese people have been exposed to dioxin with over 3 million of them eventually becoming AO victims.
