The wife of the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representative visits the Vietnamese Women’s Museum

 

Spending more an hour to visit the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, Madam Sourisse Daniele discovered the contribution Vietnamese women made to it’s history, the role of women in their families, and the cultural features of ethnic women in Vietnam. She realized that there are many cultural similarities between the two countries, through the stories, objects, and images which are displayed in the permanent exhibition. Like Vietnamese traditional wedding ceremony, Moroccan people also use boxes for containing offerings which are similar to those which Vietnamese people use; and the patterns and colour o­n the costumes of Vietnamese women are similar to those of Maroccan’s. Upon seeing the baby carriers of ethnic minorities in the permanent exhibition she was especially inspired her to tell the stories of those of Morocco, and of her hometown where o­nly rich families in Marocco have patterns o­n the baby carriers, whilst the poor o­nly use plain cloth for making baby carriers.

Additionally, she also discovered more about diversified cultural features of Vietnam. She was so surprised and interested when given more understanding about the comb’s usage. It is used to comb the new mother’s breast to make more milk for the newborn in the birth exhibit. The most special thing is that the Gie Trieng costume in Tay Nguyen, which are costumes used for taking part in special ceremonies because they are really beautiful and fascinating.

Upon visiting the Women in History theme during the two resistance wars against both French and American enemies, she was impressed by images and objects, in which the bottle lamp of nun Dam Duyen used for taking food and weapons to support the frontline at Dien Bien Phu battle, or the image “Human bridge”, which tells about soldiers soaking in the stream to make a bridge for transporting the wounded soldiers which made her feel really moved.
