Women and Youth Join Hands to Prevent Human Trafficking and Promote Safe Migration
Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyễn Thị Minh Hương delivers the opening speech at the forum. The forum aims to raise awareness and equip participants with necessary skills to prevent human trafficking, promote safe migration, and reduce related criminal risks. This event marks the kickoff for a series of activities in support of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the Vietnam’s National Day Against Trafficking in Persons July 30 in 2025. It contributes to Vietnam’s commitment in the fight against human trafficking with the message: “Human trafficking is an organized crime — End exploitation now!”
According to International Organization for Migration (IOM), since 2014, more than 25,000 people have died while migrating – many of whom were deceived into working in Cambodia or subjected to forced labor.
At the forum, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Minh Hương, VWU Vice President shared that the VWU is intensifying its anti-human trafficking campaigns through social media and digital technology. In the first half of 2025, nearly 93% of returned trafficking survivors receive support from WUs to access social assistance services.

Within the framework of the event, a dialogue session titled “Community engagement in Preventing Human Trafficking and Ensuring Migrants’ Rights” was held, featuring speakers from the Quang Binh Provincial Women’s Union, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security.
The dialogue session highlighted the current situation, challenges, and solutions in combating human trafficking, emphasizing the crucial role of authorities and the Women’s Union in supporting women and children migrants returning home.
