Ten Vietnamese Women Rewarded For Valuable Contributions

Viet Nam Women’s Union will for the first time award the “Women Moving Vietnamese Hearts” title to ten Vietnamese shining females.

Five women, representing the generation of Vietnamese females who lived and fought bravely in wartime, will be honored at the event. They include:

 

Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh - Former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam,
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam – Ho Chi Minh Trail veteran from Thai Binh Province,
Mr. Kieu Thu - former prisoner in Con Dao Islands,
Sister Mai Thi Mau - devoting her life to take care of leprous patients,
Buddhist nun Duc Tu - Director of Duc Son Orphanage in Hue City.

 

The other five are those who have lived in peace and have great contributions to the country. They are:

 

Ms. Huynh Tieu Huong - a businesswoman, who has brought up over 200 orphans,
Ms. Nguyen Huong Duong – founder of library of oral book for the blind in Ho Chi Minh City,
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, 26 – holder of MBA diploma in Switzerland and currently the youngest Chairman of Investment Fund in Viet Nam,
Ms. Le Diep Kieu Trang – financial expert of the HSBC Group,
Ms. Huynh Thi Xam, 23 – disabled girl who has o­nly two fingers and knees left but has reared a large family of 6 younger siblings at school age.

 

The ten women may not reflect the image of all Vietnamese women in many sectors like economy, science, culture, art, etc., but they are deserved to be admired and honored, said the organizing board.

 

These women are different in ages but similar in having a great devotion to contribute to the nation's fast growth.

The Viet Nam Television (VTV) will hold a live broadcast of the award ceremony o­n June 18.
