Starting Joint Program to help blind women

Accounting for more than half of the 600,000 sightless people, blind women face many difficulties and challenges.

With the aim of helping women to improve their spiritual and material life the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Vietnamese Association of Blinds signed a Joint Program supporting blind women o­n the 27th March 2006. The Program focuses o­n issues such as raising women’s awareness, promoting the role of women including blind women and Women’s Union of all levels in implementing policies of the Party, State as well as of the 2 Associations, creating favorable conditions for women to participate to social activities, strengthening the coordination between the 2 Associations in the activities for the advancement of women in general and blind women in particular, contributing to the second BIWACO Millennium Goal "Towards Inclusive, Barrier-free Society".
