Learning Colombian experiences of finance and services for poor women

Recently, representatives of the Vietnam Women's Union and partners participating in the JICA sponsored Project of promoting gender-responsive financial inclusion have visited and learned about Colombian experiences in the field of comprehensive finance, microfinance, and services for poor, low-income women.

The delegation consisted of members of the Vietnam Women's Union, the State Bank, the Ministry of Finance, Thanh Hoa Microfinance Institution and Dai-ichi Life Vietnam Insurance Company.

The delegation visited Colombian public and private institutions, which have made an importantcontribution to comprehensive financial achievements in Colombia. The members of the delegation learned about how public institutions create conditions for banks, microfinance services providers, insurance companies, financial technology companies to start their business and to provide services for poor and low-income women. Colombian laws and strategies encourage these financial institutions to provide high quality services at affordable prices for poor, low-income women.

Through the study visit, the delegation’s members agree that there are a lot of content and initiatives to promote comprehensive finance of Colombia that are worth studying. The delegation wishes to share the information learned from the trip to stakeholders in Vietnam.
