Directed by the Women’s Union at grassroots levels, this project concentrates on carrying out propaganda for the national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention of Vietnam to 2010 and provision to 2020; programme of reintegration to community after giving up drug addicts; skill to support mental, nutrition for HIV/AIDS infected people.
Up until now, district and provincial Women’s Union had organized 178 campaigns with those content for nearly 103.500 women union’s members.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Union at the district and provincial levels has received 11 women from the women vocational training school. The Women’s Union reviewed their living standard and supported loan worth 75.5 million VND for 63 women to improve their living standard. WU also supported 7 million VND for 15 people affected with and dying of AIDS. The peer group’s members of the WU have approached sex workers to talk to them and distributed more than 10,000 condoms and leaflets to inform communities about HIV/AIDS prevention and sexually transmitted diseases. They also encouraged the sex workers to check and treat their disease at the Sunlight Center.
