Cooperation in conducting a concentrated campaign to combat against the crime of trafficking in women and children

In June 28, 2006, the VWU Presidium promulgated a document to provide guideline to provincial/municipal Women’s Unions that share borders with China and Cambodia to organize and conduct a concentrated campaign to combat against the crime of trafficking in women and children through borders Viet Nam – China and Viet Nam – Cambodia.

The document focuses o­n survey/identification, information collection o­n the situation of trafficking in women and children; provision of knowledge, capacity building for WU staff o­n prevention of trafficking in women and children, organizing communication campaigns and meeting contents against trafficking in women and children at community; coordinating with related branches/agencies for counseling, supporting and assisting women and children victims to be reintegrated in the community; developing report techniques and writing articles o­n that issue for mass media.

 

This was an activity of VWU aiming to implement the joint Plan dated June 19, 2006 by General Department of Police – Ministry of Public Security o­n starting a high peak period combating against crimes of trafficking in women and children.

 

As known, o­n July 7, 2006, in Lang Son Province, the General Department of Police had organized a conference with the participation of the 16 Northern provincial Departments of Public Security to deploy the high peak period against crimes o­n trafficking in women and children through China-Vietnam borders in order to prevent/control and decrease the number of women and children trafficked in 2006. The conference focused o­n subjects “Coordination among forces combating against crimes o­n trafficking in women and children”, “Coordinating mechanism among branches, units and forces in receiving and supporting women and children victims to be reintegrated” ...
