Vietnamese women willing to share experience in economic renovation with Cuba

On April 5, Ms. Tran Lan Phuong, Vice President of Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) had a meeting with Mr. Orlando Hernandez Guillen, the Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam to discuss about the political and economic issues in Cuba.

At the meeting, Mr. Orlando Hernandez Guillen shared about the difficult situation in Cuba due to the embargo and the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. He believes that the cooperation of domestic agencies and organizations along with the support of long-term partners and friends of Cuba, especially Vietnam, will help the country overcome challenges and quickly solve the emerging issues. He also informed about the successful results of the 11th National Congress of Cuban Women’s Federation and Ms. Teresa Maria Amarelle Boué continued to be re-elected as the General Secretary of Cuban Women’s Federation.

On behalf of the VWU, Vice President Tran Lan Phuong thanked the Ambassador for his timely sharing about the current situation in Cuba. She expressed her sympathy with these difficulties and highly appreciated the leadership, direction and policies of the Cuban Party and State in supporting economic development of the country despite of ongoing issues. She added that Vietnam has accumulated valuable experiences in national economy development process and is willing to share with Cuba. Vietnamese people, including Vietnamese women, are always grateful to the Cuban people and women for their uncountable support during Vietnam's most difficult period. Ms. Lan Phuong believes that under the leadership of the Cuban Party and State and solidarity of the Cuban people, the country will soon overcome the contemporary challenges to achieve positive results in the coming time.
