29/01/2007
On the sideline of Review Conference on the implementation of the Politburo’s Ordinance 06/CT-TW on enhancing leadership and direction to the task of drug control and prevention, reporter of the VWU’s website has a short interview with Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Le The Tiem.

Reporter: Deputy Minister, Could you please give some remarks on the role of women in general and VWU’s in particular on anti-drug task.

PM: As we all know, women make up more than half of population, so they play a very important role in social life. Moreover, women themselves always take care of all family members, thus effectively discouraging them from using drug.

In fact, over the past time, VWU played an active role on drug prevention. In the implementation of the Politburo’s Ordinance 06/CT-TW (Term VII), VWU has worked closely with the Ministry of Public Security and other relevant sectors to educate family members to say no to drug. Encouraging people to actively take part in anti-drug program initially contributes to restraining social evils. Especially VWU at all levels are successful in persuading people in the high land to stop growing opium poppy, thus contributing to reducing drug problem in Vietnam. This success is highly appreciated by the UN.

Reporter: Thank you very much!
