Asian Divas gave me great chances: My Linh

01/11/2006
VietNamNet Bridge – My Linh, one of the most famous pop stars in Vietnam, just came back from Japan where the Asian Divas programme was held. Linh has shared her happiness with the press.

It is reported that you were one of the four main invited guests. Could you tell us more about your trip?

It was a big programme with the participation of many famous international artists from Hong Kong, China, North Korea, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore and America.

I had a great chance to perform with three other artists. The first one is Yummi, a renowned Japanese songwriter, singer who has strongly influenced the contemporary music of Japan.

The second one is Ayaka, a young Japanese singer whose first album sold more than one million copies. And the last one is Sandy Lam, a pop star from Hong Kong.

We sang together one of Yummi’s songs, namely Color of the Moon. This song has been downloaded by a large number of web users. The downloading fee is US$1 each time. All the money will be used for charitable work with the programme’s message: “Across the border”.

I found it an honour for me.

What would you say about what Japanese people think about Vietnam?

This was such a great chance for me to visit Kyoto, Japan’s former capital. It is a very beautiful and attractive city. During my time there, I found that Japanese people have rather warm feelings about Vietnam. It seemed to me like there was a “Vietnam wave” there, as many people liked listening to Vietnamese music, watching Vietnamese films, eating Vietnamese food and traveling to Vietnam. This made me very proud of being Vietnamese.

Did you have the chance to see and work in an environment with modern technology of showbiz?

Indeed, I have learned a lot in the way of organising performances, arranging songs and keeping stages “hot”. More importantly, I have learned a great deal of what is carefully prepared “behind the scenes”. I do hope that what I have learned will be successfully applied in organising my own coming live shows to make them warm and professional music performances.

So what are you planning?

The live shows will take place at Hoa Binh Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City on November 17 and in Hanoi on November 24 and 25. I will also try to organise shows in several other places.

The audiences will still see My Linh in my own style, but with what I have learned since the last live show was held, I hope that audiences will be satisfied.
