11 tenures – 1,038 National Assembly Women Deputies

60 years (1946 – 2006) of the National Assembly experienced 11 tenures. 1,038 women deputies elected to the National Assembly (accounted for 21.4%).

The present number of N.A deputies increases more than that of the 1st tenure. The 1st tenure National Assembly had 10/333 female deputies (accounted for 3%). In the NA 11th tenures this amount increases to 27.3%, marking Vietnam the1st rank in Asia, the 2nd rank in Asia-Pacific region (after New Zealand) and the 9th rank out of 135 countries in the world. However, the percentage of female deputies is not sustainable, in some tenures it has lightly decreased such as in the 7th (with 22%), 8th (18%), 9th (18.8%). The highest percentage is in the 5thh (32%), followed by the 11th (27.3%) and the 10th (26.2%)

 

For the 12th tenure in the period of 2007 – 2012, it is expected to have 30% and above female deputies.
