Women of Gia Lai province dialogue with Chairman of Provincial People's Committee

PLEIKU, Vietnam, March 6, 2024 – A dialogue was held between Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee and the local women under the theme "Policies to support women's economic development". The event drew the attendance of nearly 800 participants, both in-person in the Provincial Hall and online from 16 districts.

Mr. Truong Hai Long, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People Committee, chaired the dialogue with the presence of many provincial department leaders. At the dialogue, the local women raised questions and made recommendations concerning poverty alleviation, business development, vocational training, and women’s access to finance. Discussions also addressed other issues including provincial efforts to implement 3 national programs on poverty reduction, ethnic minority development, and building new rural areas.

In response to queries raised at the dialogue, Provincial Chairman Truong Hai Long and departmental representatives provided clear and adequate answers. The Provincial Women's Union, following these discussions, will work with relevant agencies to strengthen women's participation in collective economic models and job creation initiatives. This aims to develop internal resources, encourage the entrepreneurship spirit of women and contribute to local socio-economic development goals.

In his conclusion, Chairman Long emphasized the need for continued innovation in Women's Union activities, aligning them with local development priorities. He urged Gia Lai Women’s Union closely connect with the grassroots, understand the concerns and lives of its members and communities to effectively advise party committees and authorities for timely solutions. The Chairman also requested Gia Lai Women's Union staff and members actively implement government policies and build the Union’s strong organization. Additionally, Mr. Long called upon Provincial departments and district authorities to prioritize creating favorable conditions for women in employment, healthcare, and other key areas.
