VWU President Ha Thi Nga wishes to introduce valuable documents about Vietnamese women to people of Chile

On the morning of March 27, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, VWU President Ha Thi Nga had a meeting with the former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria on the occasion of her visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, Mrs. Ha Thi Nga expressed her joy when Mrs. Michelle Bachelet Jeria, former President of Chile returned to Vietnam on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile. She also expressed her appreciation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Chile and appreciated Chile's support for Vietnam. Back in history, Chile was the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam (March 25, 1971).

Mrs. Ha Thi Nga affirmed that Vietnamese women were very impressed and admired MrsMichelle Bachelet as the first female President of Chile and the first Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). She has made important contribution to the development of Chilean womenthe feminist movement and women around the world, being a role model for Vietnamese women to follow.

In addition, President Ha Thi Nga also thanked Mrs. Michelle Bachelet for her love for Vietnam since her young age. At the same time, Mrs. Ha Thi Nga thanked the Mayor of Cerro Navia District and the people of the district for their precious affection to President Ho Chi Minh with the renovation of Ho Chi Minh Park in Chile in 2019.

Former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet shared that during her previous visits to Vietnam, she had the opportunity to witness the transformations and advancements of Vietnam, especially the country’s reconstruction after the war and the advancement of the Vietnamese women, in which the great role of the Vietnam Women's Union must be mentioned.

The two sides discussed issues related to domestic violence prevention and control

At the meeting, Mrs. Michelle Bachelet and Mrs. Ha Thi Nga shared information about the prevention of domestic violence against women and activities to empower women in the two countries.

In the coming time, President Ha Thi Nga would like to have the opportunity to introduce valuable documents about Vietnamese women to Mrs. Michelle Bachelet Jeria and the people of Chile. She also hoped that the Chilean Ambassador in Vietnam would continue to support and promote cooperation activities not only between the Vietnam Women's Union and the Chilean Embassy in Vietnam but also with the Chilean Women's organizations. She wished Mrs. Michelle Bachelet and her delegation a fruitful visit in Vietnam.
