Under Resolution No. 107 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, women must account for at least 35% of the official candidate list, with a target of securing approximately 30% of the elected seats in the upcoming 2026-2031 tenure. Speaking at the training, President Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized that these figures represent more than just numerical targets; they underscore the strong commitment of the Party and State to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The official data from the National Election Council shows that women make up 45.37% (392 people) of the 864 total candidates for the upcoming term - an "impressive" figure that reflects the state’s commitment to gender equality. Among these female candidates, 24 are senior officials and staff members from the Women’s Union across different levels. All 24 candidates hold at least a bachelor’s degree.
