Viet-Aussie pianist to play in Ho Chi Minh City

Anh, who now lives in Australia, will play several European classics such as Chopin’s Barcarolle Op. 60 and Beethoven’s Sonata in E flat major.

Performing alongside the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music orchestra, Anh will also play works by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn.

Born in Australia in 1987, Anh began studying piano at the Sydney Music Institute at the young age of four.

She obtained an associate diploma in piano at nine years old. She has performed o­n Australia Television’s Kerry Anne Kennerley Show several times.

Anh won high honours at the Vienna International Pianists Summer Festival 2003 and won the Audience’s Choice award at the 2005 Klavier Summer Festival in Germany.

Last year, Anh and her partner David Shi won first prize at the Irene-Hope Gibson Piano Awards in Sydney.

The Irene-Hope Gibson Piano Awards is a competition for works written for two pianos. The annual awards are held to commemorate celebrated pianist Irene-Hope Gibson.

Anh has also performed in the US and Taiwan.

Anh recently played in the Ho Chi Minh City Autumn Classical Music Gala 2006, which featured several internationally renowned Vietnamese musicians.

Friday’s concert will begin at 8pm at the Conservatory of Music, 112 Nguyen Du street, district 1. Tickets range from VND 80,000 to VND 100,000.
