The Wheelchairs Handover Ceremony for disabled in Ha Nam

the 27th October 2011, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy – Standing Vice President of Vietnam Women’s Union attended the wheelchair handover Ceremony in Ha Nam. The Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) in cooperation with the Later Day Saint Charities (LDSC) organized a Ceremony to hand 200 wheelchairs to the disabled of Ha Nam Province.

On  Attending the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Michel of the LDSC, Mr. Tran Hong Nga – Vice-chairman of the Ha Nam People’s Committee and 20 disabled representing 200wheelchair recipients this time.

LDSC is an American foundation that was founded in 1986 to do charity for the disabled and the poor. Through the VWU from early 2000s, LDSC has donated nearly 3,500 wheelchair (approximately $ 530,000) for the poor disabled in some provinces and cities such as Thai Binh, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Ha Noi, Ha Nam and Hoa Binh. Besides, LDSC also supported Hoa Binh Women’s Union to build a water pipe system and water tanks for the poor women at the Luong Son district.

On behalf of the VWU Presidium, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy expressed her sincere thanks to LDSC for their great support to the disabled and poor people in Vietnam during the past years and hoped that more and more disabled in Vietnam would receive attention from LDSC in the coming time.

For the disabled, wheelchairs are such meaningful gifts which help their daily life become more convenient and thus reducing the burden for their family.
