Review Workshop on Business Development Services (BDS) training and VWU's strategic orientation for woman entrepreneurship promotion 2003 – 2007

More than 100 woman entrepreneurships, Presidents, Vice-Presidents of provincial/municipal WUs and woman entrepreneurship Associations, Directors of Vocational Training and Employment Centers, Chairpersons of Woman Entrepreneurship Clubs, and provincial/municipal WU’s staffs in charge of vocational training attended the Review Workshop on BDS training and VWU's strategic orientation for woman entrepreneurship promotion 2003 – 2007 organized at Center for Women and Development from 14 to 15 May, 2007.

At the workshop, participants had a chance to better understand business development services a still new field to VWU; to exchange and focus o­n evaluating and analyzing the reasons for successfulness as well as the limitations of VWU's woman entrepreneurship promotion; to evaluate VWU's strategic orientation for woman entrepreneurship promotion 2003 – 2007; and to discuss the 2008 – 2012 Orientation development.

 

In today global economy, considered as an emerging economic force, women are not o­nly part of the human resource but also creating employment and values for other resources, establishing premises and businesses, thus promoting the national economy and global economic growth. Yet, women are facing a series of difficulties and challenges. Obstacles in business establishment and development are restrictions in accessing and managing such resources as capitals, land, infrastructures, IT, training and network participation with limited assistance from concerned agencies. BDS are all services offered to entrepreneurs to help them overcome certain hindrances for better business and ultimately for economic growth. BDS consist of a wide range of services from technical and management training, information providing to network establishment, Marketing assistance and market connection establishment.

 

After almost 5 years of implementation, VWU's strategic orientation for woman entrepreneurship promotion has encouraged and facilitated women to participate in doing business. 24 provinces and cities have organized training courses for over 308,400 woman entrepreneurs; supported nearly VND 1,500 billion for approximately 355,800 woman entrepreneurs. Additionally, several provinces in coordination with women entrepreneurs have organized training courses for 202,445 women and offered jobs for 36,758 women.
