MAPUTO DECLARATION

Mozambique, Maputo, December 18th,2010.

We, women of the World, gathered in the WIDF Steering Committee, in which participated 24 affiliated organizations from 20 countries, salute the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of our organization, reaffirming the founding principles of the Women’s International Democratic Federation.

The world capitalist crisis, affects all our people that face the cruelest attack against their rights, massive unemployment, salaries and pensions cuts, reductions in the social welfare, the lack of the access to recourses, to education, to health. Women are the main victims of this process, the poorest among the poor, the ones that suffer most all the forms of violence, discrimination and exploitation.

Our meeting analyzed the international context and the disastrous effects of the imperialist policies towards our peoples, a policy that in an aggressive manner promotes underdevelopment, poverty, misery and external dependence.

1.We strongly condemn the imperialist aggressions on behalf of United States of America, Israel, European Union and other allies forces that promote wars, armed and ethnic conflicts, the imposition of military bases in all parts of the world, forced displacements, migrations and trafficking, blockades and State Terrorism, among others violations of human rights of our peoples, as the right to self-determination and sovereignty.

2.We condemn the new strategic doctrine of NATO, that reinforces the aggressiveness of imperialism and imposed “preventive wars” to intervene in controlling resources all over the world and “legalize interventions” in the internal matters of all countries, as a tool to stabilize governments that are supposed to be threatened by people’s movements.

3.We express our solidarity with the peoples from Europe, especially with women that face the anti popular attack against their rights, by the plutocracy, the European Union and the social democratic and neoliberal parties, who declared war against peoples, to promote the toughest anti labor measures. In the name of competitiveness, they assault the labor rights, targeting workers to pay off the crisis and at the same time, to validate the measures after the crisis.

4.We express our solidarity with the people of Cyprus in its struggle against the Turkish invasion and occupation of the part of its territory, with the collaboration of USA and NATO. We defend their rights to build a unique independent , sovereign state and with an international status.

5.We salute the new changes that have taken place in Latin America, with some democratic governments that promote social policies, welfare of their peoples, including measures for the advancement of women.

6.We reiterate our support to the new processes of integration that have taken place in Latin America, like ALBA, MERCOSUR, UNASUR y CARICOM, that are valuable tools for cooperation and struggle against the attempts of USA to destabilized the region.

7. We strongly condemn the coup d’ etat perpetrated against the legal Government of Honduras, the one against the failed coup d’etat that took place in Ecuador, and the attempts to destabilized the revolutionary process that the President Hugo Chávez constructs.

8 We support the claim of the sovereignty of the Malvinas islands government and people of Argentina in solidarity in this just cause.

9. We express our solidarity with our sisters and brothers from Haiti, which suffer the serious consequences of the earthquake and face also the terrible pandemic of cholera that reinforces poverty and family disintegration. At the same time, we express solidarity towards the people of Venezuela that suffered a national tragedy due to the natural disaster that has left thousands of families affected by human and material loss.

10We condemn the policy of the Israel Government for the occupation of the Palestinian territories and unanimously support the suffering people of Palestine in its just struggle and express at the same time a total solidarity with our Palestinian women and for the return of refugees to their land and the liberation of political prisoners. We support the recognition on the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as capital by various countries with the borders in 1967. We demand the immediate withdrawal of Israel and the dismantling of the settlements.

We reject the imperialist aggressions against the P.D.R of Korea and express our solidarity with the Korean people and women in its struggle for the peaceful reunification between the both parts of the peninsula of Korea, in fulfilling the North-South Joint Declaration, approved for both parts June 15th.

We will continue to encourage the role of the African women supporting their interventions to improve their standard of life.
