Large support mobilized over past 3 years for women in border and island areas
Right after the Program launching in 2018, active support by various organizations and individuals was immediately extended to 110 border communes in difficulty (20 more communes than planned). In addition, provincial Women’s Unions are supporting 45 of their own border communes.
From 2018 up to now, an amount of 150 billion VND (about 641,000 USD) has been raised. The Program has supported 321 livelihood projects, 6 million cattle and poultry breeds, nearly 1,000 construction works such as roads, bridges, village houses, clean water and sanitation, waste management and 700 affection houses, which has changed the border villages for its better.
All the 110 communes have achieved the Program targets, contributing to the success of the new Countryside National Program. Nine communes of them have been recognized as New Rural Communes.

Speaking at the Conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh highly appreciated the initiative of the Vietnam Women's Union and the Border Guard Command when launching the Program “Supporting for women in border and island areas” for 2018-2020 period and extending it for the 2021-2025 period.
