Hand-over the van for milk preservation and transportation to Ba Vi Cattle and Pasture Research Center

On 22nd July 2006, the Management Board of Dairy Development Project (Dairy Project) - Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) handed-over the van for milk preservation and transportation, a present of Mr. Tran Dinh Hue, a Vietnamese resident in Switzerland and Mr. Nguyen Thuong, the former Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland to the project. The van can carry a load of 1.25 tones and costs more than 300 million VND.

The hand-over ceremony took place with the witness of Mrs. Ton Nu Y Lan, Mr. Ton That Triem - Mr. Tran Dinh Hue and relatives, representatives of leaders and staff from VWU, Bavi Cattle and Pasture Research Center as well as project members.

 

The project was initiated in 1993 by H.E Princess Irene of Greece and President of World In Harmony (WIH) and has been implemented in Bavi district, Ha Tay province. Over 12 years of implementation, the project has gained good results, helping poor women and their families to generate income, improve their life and at the same time contribute to the development of dairy cow raising in the locality. The cowherd is now 1,300 and milk production has reached more than1,000 tones per year.


On behalf of VWU and PMB, Mme. Truong Thi Khue – VWU Vice-President o­nce again expressed her deep and sincere gratitude towards the attention and support that Mr. Hue and Mr. Thuong reserved for VWU in general and the project in particular. She asked and hopes that VWU and Bavi Cattle and Patures Research Center, which directly received the van will make the best use and maintenance of the van, contributing to promote milk commercialization for project members and farmers who raise milk cows in Bavi as a wish of the 2 donnors.

 Thanks to Mr. Tran Dinh Hue’s advocacy work, the project has also received attention and assistance from other organizations such as the National Centre of Inter-institution Milk Economy (CNIEL, France) with an equipment chain for milk bacterilization and package valued at US$ 145,000, French Organization for Child Protection and Care (AFSEA) with US$10,000 for milk packaging materials, the Grand - Saconnex commune (Switzerland) supported US$ 5,000 and CHF 5,000 (equivalent to US$ 8,500) for the training of farmers.
